My Sidney jumped the fence one night and never came back. I think the coyotes got him - so I feel your loss. But I also console myself as Sidney loved being outside and I couldn't take that away from him. I have made this chocolate cake and it is a good one. I too get much consolation from going in the kitchen when things are upsetting and measuring and stirring and making something nourishing and comforting. Lately I've been making rice pudding - variations on Mark Bittman's recipe published in 2002 on the NYTimes website. I am so sorry to hear about Miso. I have made this chocolate cake and it is a good one.
